The Nissan LEAF, once the best-selling electric car in the world, is now being updated with the 2022 model year without changing the design that apparently customers like. And, of course, even if the Japanese house has revised the series for the model coming out this year, the technology that made it so famous remains intact.
The electric car now features 16 and 17-inch alloy wheels with a smooth black finish. The new logo of the brand adorns the rims and the front grille. The 2022 version is also distinguished by new external lines that give it an even more captivating character and in line with Nissan’s new brand identity. In addition to six single-color paints and five two-tone options, two new colors will be added to the range in the future, the Universal Blue and the Magnetic Bluealready seen on the Qashqai and Ariya.
Aside from these minor tweaks, the Nissan LEAF is available as before with two battery options for a range of 270 or 385 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. Depending on the version, the drive delivers 110 kW (150 hp) or 160 kW (217 hp). Nissan points out that the second generation of electric cars, introduced in 2017, still has modern technologies. With the “ProPilot” system, for example, automatic acceleration and braking is possible as well as maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in front. The “e-Pedal” offers additional convenience: it allows you to accelerate, decelerate and stop the vehicle with a single pedal.
The system “NissanConnect” with smartphone integration via Android Auto e Apple CarPlay guarantees modern infotainment and seamless connectivity, as the Japanese manufacturer is keen to emphasize. Features like air conditioning can be remotely controlled via the NissanConnec appt. Customers can also connect LEAF to their smart home device by leveraging Amazon Alexa.
Reportedly, the LEAF it will be replaced by an electric car of a different format by the middle of the decade. A battery powered crossover model is expected. The technical basis will be provided by the CMF-EV electric car platform, which Nissan shares with other members of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
The LEAF 2022 will be available from April at prices starting from 29,500 euros thanks to the Nissan discount 2,700 euros on the list price of 32,200 euros.
