OneDevice: the first smartphone “in hand”

OneDevice is a project under development signed by the French Pierre-Louis Boyer who, tired of the dimensions reached by today’s smartphones, proposes his own vision

As we all know, today’s phones have reached a processing capacity that is comparable to any computer. Think of the category of gaming smartphones, equipped with unimaginable quantities of RAM memories compared to a decade ago.

Not to mention their processors, capable of delivering excellent performance under all circumstances, even in stressful video editing tasks. The exponential improvement in computing capabilities has gone hand in hand with the increase in the size of these devices, which have now become an extension of ourselves. If until the last decade, companies backed up to offer the smallest and most powerful device, today the first member of the equation is no longer considered. Examples are the Asus ROG Phone, with unparalleled hardware equipment but with dimensions that make it difficult not to feel them in your pocket (if not even insert them in the aforementioned). And here is the idea behind OneDevice, a compact device without sacrificing respectable components.

As can be seen from the photo, being considerably narrower and lower than most current devices, will allow a more comfortable grip as well as being able to touch the entire extension of the screen with your thumb without any difficulty. For those with small hands, therefore, this smartphone could represent an excellent solution, should it ever come to fruition. But it’s not limited to just this design feature, because the OneDevice will mount 2 display.

OneDevice: technical characteristics

The front panel will be a YOU ARE gives 4,7″ HD+ (720 x 1280p), while the secondary one, positioned on the back, will be a e-Ink of the same size. The latter will allow you to read books or check incoming messages from WhatsApp for example, saving battery given the negligible consumption of this type of screen. The photographic sector will be managed by a “flipcamera”, a solution very similar to what we saw with the Asus Zenphone 7/8. The rest of the potential spec sheet see Android 10 as an operating system, a processor Octa-Core 2,3GHz assisted by 6GB of RAM e 128GB of memory ROM. All at a hypothetical introductory price of ~300€, quite content bearing in mind the singularities of this product.
