Peugeot Sport Marelli new collaboration for the 9X8

Peugeot Sport and Marelli has signed a technological partnership, which involves the development of the hybrid propulsion system of the Hypercar Peugeot 9X8.

Specifically, Marelli deals with the engineering and supply of an electric motor high performance tailor made and a silicon carbide based inverter. These elements are part of the front axle drive system. The goal is to maximize system efficiency and reliability while adapting motor and inverter technology. This is to effectively take advantage of the weight and volume set by the team.

Marelli’s contribution is based on consolidated know-how in the design, production and implementation of hybrid and fully electric high performance systems. Not least he offers his knowledge in the field of energy recovery systems and fully electric drive systems. All with a long experience and applications in the most important world motor racing championships.

We are pleased to welcome Marelli on board the Peugeot 9X8 project ” says Olivier Janssonie. “We have been collaborating with Marelli for many years and our teams share the same passion and vocation for excellence. This project is a fantastic opportunity to combine our skills and design, test and race together on the track with a new innovative and high-performance electric motor that will bring the 9X8 to success ”.

Peugeot and Marelli for the Hypercar 9X8, a new chapter in the long collaboration between the two companies

This partnership is one of the many collaborations that have seen Marelli and Peugeot working together in the field of motorsport and road production. These include the supply of electronics and telemetry for the Peugeot 905 and 908 in Endurance races.

And with this new collaboration, Marelli also obtains the exclusive status of “Official Partner of Peugeot Sport”. The status also includes collaboration and mutual benefits in the areas of sponsorship, branding and marketing. Indeed Marelli will be present again with its logo on the livery of the Hypercar Peugeot 9X8. The same logo will also be present on the drivers’ suits, team clothing, and so on.

“We are thrilled with this new collaboration with Peugeot Sport” says Riccardo De Filippi, Head of Marelli Motorsport. “We already have a long and prestigious tradition of collaboration with Peugeot Sport in the history of endurance racing, and we both share a great heritage and a technical tradition in racing. Once again we have combined all our skills to push the performance of such a unique and extreme car to the limit in a sustainable way, with the adoption of the most advanced Marelli electric propulsion technology ”.
