Phil Spencer would like to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo Switch

Microsoft had been clear since the acquisition of Activision Blizzard: “Call of Duty it will not become Xbox exclusive“. An opening that had made all PlayStation users breathe a sigh of relief, further confirmed today by Phil Spencer. The head of the console from the big X has in fact declared that he “would love” to see Call of Duty on the Nintendo Switch. What seemed utopia a few years ago would now seem a possibility.

The statement came during a speech at the Wall Street Journal’s Tech Live, where Spencer talked about Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

During his speech Spencer reiterated that Microsoft has no interest in making Call of Duty an Xbox exclusive game. Here are the words of him:

“Call of Duty will be available on PlayStation and I’d love to see it on Switch. In general I would like to see the game on many different screens. Our intent is to treat Call of Duty like Minecraft “.

Minecraft is in fact available on almost all platforms, despite being an IP (intellectual property) of Microsoft. Spencer therefore seems to speculate that Call of Duty could have a similar fate, becoming multiplatform.

“When you think of the 3 billion people playing video games, there are only about 200 million households on consoles,” Spencer said, pointing out the importance of mobile consoles like Switch in the contemporary market.
