Today PlayStation presented on its official blog the arrival of a system software update on both PS5 and PS4. between new features introduced with this update, some of those most requested by fans and which we had already talked about previously. Among the most relevant, now there will be the possibility of create or join open and closed parties on both consoles, and on PS5 it was also optimized the user interface concerning the Game Base and the trophy card. On PS5, additional features have been applied, such as game presets on the console, the ability to add videos and apps to the screen as you play, consult pro tips and share your screen with other people. These are just some of the new options added, but players are now more focused on maintenance problems, which with this update no longer allows PS5 servers to come back online.

Unable to go online on PS5 after new update

The problem was reported by hundreds of users since the release of patches on consoles; after the update, it has been reported numerous times that it would be impossible to play titles like Elden Ring, Destiny, FIFA, The Elder Scrolls Online, Gran Turismo 7, Street Fighter V, and Grand Theft Auto Online on PS5’s online servers. Then checking on the site Down Detector, useful for verifying whether this is an exclusive or common problem for users around the globe, you can immediately discover that the same would be happening for many other people around the world. Other users have also reported how their console is not recognizing the PlayStation Plus membership, but Sony on that has not yet made any statement. And while some players seem to have found a way around the problem simply turning the PS5 back on, others weren’t so lucky.

For now, the official PlayStation account on Twitter did not comment on the situation. Some testimonies tell how it is still possible access the menus online of some games, such as FIFA 22, which would mean a functioning of the service. However, when proceeding to play an online game where you need to have the PlayStation Plus, a mistake prevents you from being able to connect to the match. Sony is probably still investigating the possible causes that led to this situation, and hopefully it will be a matter of hours to resolve the matter as soon as possible. In the meantime, you will be able to explore the new features of this unfortunate update; in addition, the arrival of the variable refresh rate (VRR) for the next few months on PS5, which will dynamically synchronize the display refresh rate with the graphics output of the PS5, significantly improving visual performance.
