PlayStation Studios: a major new acquisition completed

Previously, Fabrik developed The Lost Bear for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift and Filthy Lucre for PS4 and PC. We leave you to the statements of Ankers:

I am delighted to announce that we will be reuniting Fabrik Games and Firesprite as part of our exciting next step with PlayStation Studios. They are a team of passionate and committed developers, led by industry veterans who have worked on many AAA franchises. We look forward to strengthening our creative staff as we continue our journey to deliver truly unique experiences for PlayStation fans.

According to today’s announcement, the acquisition of Fabrik Games “occurred in connection with Firesprite’s entry into PlayStation Studios.” Prior to its acquisition, Firesprite had recruited for two titles: a multiplayer shooter and “a dark narrative adventure with genre-defining objectives.” PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst said at the time of the Firesprite acquisition the following:

After several years of close collaboration on several games, including The Playroom (PS4) and The Playroom VR (PS VR), I couldn’t be happier to welcome Firesprite to the PlayStation Studios family as our 14th studio. Firesprite is a creative and ambitious software house, exceptional at creating incredible experiences that truly show the potential of our hardware. The team’s technical and creative skills will be key to growing our stellar catalog of exclusive games and I think you will be thrilled with what’s to come.
