Prime Video: available Ikos, the documentary against homophobic bullying

Ikos, the documentary by Giuseppe Sciarra against homophobic bullying, is now available on Amazon Prime Video: let’s find out all the details together

The catalog of the Amazon Prime Video streaming service is updated periodically, with many new releases between films and TV series of great depth. Often, cinematographic works also carry on their shoulders great social weight, especially when referring to documentaries. And this is precisely the case of Ikos, a documentary on homophobic bullying by Giuseppe Sciarra which recently arrived on the Amazon streaming platform. The documentary is part of the second season of “The Ticket Show”, an initiative desired by the producer and actor Giulio Neglia which brings together a series of the best short films in circulation in recent years. We already told you about it about two years ago, at the time of its release: you can find all the information by clicking here.

The synopsis, provided via press release, is as follows:

The 90s. A town of two thousand souls in southern Italy, a family like many others, that of Professor Sciarra and four children: three girls and a boy, the latter being the baby of the house, Giuseppe Sciarra. Giuseppe is a sweet, delicate, sensitive child. Out of context in a reality where violence and delinquency prevail, precisely for this reason he will be targeted by his peers and bullied with the accusation of being gay.

Ikos: Giuseppe Sciarra’s documentary arrives on Amazon Prime Video

Ikos is a fifteen-minute documentary that tries to tell the dramatic story of an eight-year-old boy, whose fault in the eyes of his peers is that he appears to be homosexual. The director, Giuseppe Sciarra, tells his story through the body and voice of the talented Edoardo Purgatori. Sciara put it this way:

I decided to make this documentary out of a sense of respect for my person and because my peers have committed crimes against me that I don’t want to ignore and of which they have never become aware, because violence and cruelty it was their normality. Bullying is a criminal act that can destroy your life. With this short, I want to make the viewer touch what it means to be bullied and tell the public that there is still so much to do on the matter, beyond what you think.
