PS Plus Collection: announced the closure of the service

Simultaneously with the confirmation of the free games for the Plus Essential in February, Sony has announced the closure of the PS Plus Collection: let’s find out all the details together

Sony recently announced, with an “extraordinary” trailer, the official end of the hardware shortage that has harassed gamers in recent years. Gamers who, in reality, simply wanted to buy a console in a shop, without having to make the crest of the scalpers or wait more than two years. One of the incentives to move to the next-gen was undoubtedly the establishment of the PS Plus Collection, a collection of around twenty great PS4 titles that appealed to gamers who hadn’t had Sony’s previous console (or that they just didn’t play them) to redeem them for freeprovided you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

At the same time as the February 2023 free games announcement, Sony also surprised everyone by stating that the PS Plus Collection will cease to exist starting May 9th. You can still redeem the games until this date expires and they will not be removed from you: they will always be part of your library as long as you are a Plus subscriber. On the PlayStation Blog, in the announcement post, Sony said:

[…] from 9 May the PlayStation Plus Collection will no longer be offered. If you haven’t yet redeemed the titles in this collection, you will be able to do so until 9 May, which will allow you to access these titles even after this date as long as you are a PlayStation Plus member.
