And to think that another 68 bricks and the LEGO model of the famous Atari 2600 it would have been made up of exactly 2600 pieces. On the occasion of Atari’s 50th anniversary, LEGO is building a scale version of the console, which will be on the market from 1 August at the price of 239,99$ (just under € 235).
The launch of the new set comes two years after the release of a LEGO version of Nintendo’s NES. This time, however, the project will be decidedly more elaborate: the brick version of the Atari will include the console, a controller with a moving pad and even an opening flap which will reveal the reproduction of a classic 80s living room.
The set will also include three cartridges of as many iconic games for the Atari 2600: Asteroids, Adventure e Centipede. The cartridges can be inserted into the console, and finally, on the outside, three reproductions of the respective games, also made of LEGO bricks. In all in “solos” 2532 piecesjust under 2600.
“The Atari 2600 was one of the most memorable gifts I received as a child,” said the designer di Lego Chris McVeigh in a press release. “That’s why it was such an incredible experience to bring together two icons, Atari and Lego, in this fantastic set. We hope that building this classic console will bring players back to those happy days, days when a handful of pixels meant a world of adventure ”.
