Sogei denies, no attack on the Revenue Agency

Sogei today denied the news reported yesterday on the alleged hacker attack all’Revenue Agency. According to the company’s experts, no data has been stolen, despite what was proclaimed by the hackers. But Sogei and the Postal Police investigations into the matter will continue.

Sogei says there has been no hacker attack on the Revenue Agency

Sogei released a note saying that “Regarding the alleged cyber attack on the tax information system, Sogei spa informs that from the first analyzes carried out, no cyber attacks have occurred or data have been stolen from the technological platforms and infrastructures of the Financial Administration. From the technical investigations carried out, Sogei therefore excludes that a computer attack on the site of the Revenue Agency may have occurred. It remains in any case activates collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Agency and the Postal Police in order to give maximum support to ongoing investigations“.

The news of the attack had been reported by Swascancompany of Tinexta Group who had monitored the activities of the ransomware group LockBit. Yesterday the group announced the attack on the Revenue Agency, giving an ultimatum of 5 days before the eventualand publishing 78GB of data.

Once notified, the Revenue Agency asked Sogei, the company of the Ministry of Economy that manages the financial administration technologies. In addition, the Postal Police and the National Cybersecurity Agency have opened an investigation.

Sogei’s denial suggests that hackers we left no trace of the intrusion, making you doubt it ever happened. It is not the first time that a group of hackers has claimed to have carried out a major hit without having material proof of it.

However, the hackers have promised to reveal personal data on the tax situations of citizens and businesses, so investigations continue to verify that they are not yet invisible risks. In fact, the hypothesis remains that the hackers entered by exploiting the credentials stolen from some users and did not leave a trace.
