Some Amazon services and websites have gone down

Amazon services and other websites down: what happened?

Several Amazon services – including his own website, Prime Video and the applications they use Amazon Web Services (AWS) – they went down for thousands of users on Tuesday.

Amazon said the outage was likely due to problems related to theapplication programming interface (API), a set of protocols for building and integrating application software.

“We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-East-1 region,” Amazon said in a report on its service health dashboard, adding that it has identified the cause. In the late afternoon the break appeared to be partially resolved, with the company saying it was “working towards full recovery”.

“With the network device issues resolved, we are now working towards recovering any compromised services,” the company revealed yesterday.

Downdetector showed more than 24,000 reports of people who have had problems with Amazon. The site tracks outages by collecting status reports from a variety of sources, including errors reported by users on its platform.

The outage was also affecting delivery operations. Amazon warehouse operations use AWS and they have suffered interruptions, the spokesman revealed Richard Rocha to the Washington Post. An Amazon driver from Washington state said his facility had been “at a standstill” since Tuesday morning.

A widespread problem

Other services, including the Amazon’s Ring security cameras, the application of mobile banking Chime and the manufacturer of iRobot robot vacuum cleaner they had a hard time, according to their social media pages.

Ring said he is aware of the problem and is working to fix it. “A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage has currently impacted our iRobot Home App,” iRobot said on its website.

Other websites and applications affected include theInternet Movie Database (IMDb), the language learning site Duolingo and the dating site Tinder, according to Downdetector.

The outage also affected the presale of tickets for Adele’s upcoming shows in Las Vegas. “Due to an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage affecting businesses globally, all Adele Verified Fan presales scheduled for today have been moved to tomorrow to ensure a better experience,” he said.
