Sony: “We will bring PlayStation exclusives also to the mobile market”

From Jim Ryan comes the confirmation that Sony is interested in making titles for the mobile market based on the exclusive PlayStation

After Nintendo, the other great digital entertainment giant also joins the trend of recent years: Sony officially confirmed a longtime rumor today reporting that it plans to expand the franchises of PlayStation in the “realm” of devices mobile. Specifically, the company plans to “explore” the market in question with one of the many franchises in its catalog to “welcome millions of new players to the PlayStation family”. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.

After Nintendo, Sony is also ready to land on the mobile market, here are the PlayStation exclusives that would best suit this sector

We had already heard several rumors reporting a push towards the mobile was in plans for PlayStation, the same had been confirmed by a recent job advertisement which reported that Sony was looking for a new one leader precisely for this sector. The giant finally confirmed these rumors at the latest corporate strategy meeting, in which Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said, “We’ve been thinking about how gamers enjoy our content and have had some initial success with experimenting with mobile games and apps to provide more choice for gamers. ”Ryan added the following:

The mobile market is just one of the areas we are exploring to reach millions of players beyond our target platforms. PlayStation has a large catalog of proprietary IPs that can move to the smartphone market and complement the landscape of our AAA games or live service games. We are exploring the mobile market with some wonderful PlayStation franchises, so stay tuned.

Sony: "We will bring PlayStation exclusives also to the mobile market"

Given how profitable the mobile industry has been for Nintendo (and given that Xbox will cope with the Game Pass Cloud options), it’s no surprise to see Sony move in this direction as well. While there are some PlayStation sagas that may not necessarily make the move to mobile (not a mobile game anyone would want to play, anyway), there are several games that would fit pretty well in this industry, the reference being, in particular, to Sly Cooper e Jak & Daxter.
