Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro review: audio perfection according to Anker

Anker’s new Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro has been honored by numerous industry experts and Grammy winners. Are they really that amazing?

Anker is a brand that we have practically seen grow by reviewing and testing, year after year, every one of its novelties of all its brands. In this case we are going to review the new Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro true wireless headset representing the real leap in quality of the company in the sound field, at least on paper. So let’s see together if these new earphones even recommended by ten Grammy-winning audio producers deserve to be considered the best product made by Soundcore Anker ever.

The quality can be seen from the box | Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro review

Let’s start, as usual, from sales packaging which is presented in an elegant plasticized cardboard structure with a rough effect. It is the first time that Anker uses such a conformation for the realization of a box for a product, but it is not the first time that it has shown to be skilful and attentive since these “little things”. The box also has an interesting dark gray color with inserts and decorations in high definition of the internal product, its main characteristics and the most important certifications. Finally, the package has a snail-like opening (that is, which surrounds the entire box and folds during closure) which is magnetized and allows a hermetic and safe closure.

  • Once opened, we can immediately observe a broad description of the peculiar technical characteristics with lots of high-definition images printed along the entire opening surface. Below a transparent plastic window you can immediately see the two Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro earphones and the charging case. Below them, lifting the small rubberized cardboard container, we find a USB – USB-C cable, the instruction manual, the warranty, a thank you booklet and above all 6 pairs of additional rubber pads and 2 pairs of additional fins. The former allow you to have a total of 7 dimensions such as XS, S, M, M +, L, L +, XL and the latter a total of 3 dimensions such as S, M, L. An incredibly unexpected amount of accessories that makes it practically impossible not to find the most suitable adapters for your ears and hearing comfort.

Elegance and comfort in generous dimensions | Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro review

Now let’s move on to design of the protagonists of this review, starting, however, from the charging case that has some really interesting features. From an aesthetic point of view, the charging case has a rounded shape that resembles a smooth stone and even the dimensions, far from contained, suggest a certain similarity. The color is glossy black inside and opaque dark gray on the outside which, thanks also to a rubberized coating, makes the case non-slippery to the touch and oleophobic. In the upper part we find the opening flap with the logo printed in plain sight. The opening system is very solid: in fact, a simple touch with the thumb is enough to slide the lid and show the internal space. Opening and closing the flap also allows you to synchronize the earphones with your device, show the charging level thanks to three front LEDs and automatically turn off the earphones once inserted into their slots. In the back we find the USB Type-C port for fast charging protected by a rubber flap and a button that, when pressed, shows the charging status of the case via the three aforementioned LEDs. The rest of the surface is smooth and hollow, but at the base, although there is no indicator or stylistic difference, there is the ricarica wireless.

  • If we talked earlier about the small size of the charging case, the same thing we must say about the earphones which are quite large, but incredibly light and comfortable. Their color is identical to the external one of the case, i.e. opaque dark gray tending to black, with the exception of the cases which have a glossy black color with a small internal insert in red observable from the semi-transparent ear tips. At the top we find a light gray plastic plate with a suppressor microphone and an LED indicator in the shape of a waning moon. On the side, however, there is another receiver microphone and a physical selection button. The shape, together with the fins and the rubber pads, make the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro incredibly comfortable and well fixed to the ear cup. There IPX4 certification it also makes them resistant to liquids and sweat from workouts, but it is not clear why the cheaper Liberty 2 version has a more performing certification, namely IPX5.

All features within reach of App | Review Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro

From the point of view of functionality, the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro behave very well thanks and all the most classic actions such as answering the phone, stop or start a song, change song and increase the volume can be performed through some specific touches to the physical button. . The real strength, however, is given bySoundcore application downloadable from both Play Store and App Store. Through the application, the functions can be redefined based on the touches (for example with a touch you can choose to change song or answer the phone and so on), the charge level of the individual headphones can be viewed, but above all it can be used the HearID function.

The latter I personally always considered useless, but I had to change my mind: it is a function that allows you to customize the audio equalization according to your ears by carrying out an initial test lasting about 3 minutes. In this period of time we need to hold down a key when we can hear the sounds that are played in the earphones and release it when we hear nothing. In this way the application creates a unique profile for each user, incredibly improving the sound performance and above all the clarity of the entire sound spectrum. If you do not want to carry out the HearID, there are still a series of predefined sound effects such as the Soundcore experience which is practically comparable to the HearID function without, however, the beauty of customization.

Incredible audio quality | Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro review

L’autonomy is excellent: Anker declares 8 hours with a single charge and 32 hours with charging through the 500 mAh case. From our tests, the autonomy has even exceeded 8 hours, testifying to the excellent performance of the battery. Fast charging also allows you to have 2 hours of battery life with just 10 minutes of charging. We end this review by answering the most awaited question: how do they feel? It will be thanks to the 11mm oversized driver in diameter which guarantees a fairly clear and full-bodied reproduction or of the architecture ACAA (Astria Coaxial Acoustic Architecture) patented and designed specifically for the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro, but the audio is one of the best that can be found on the market, especially at such a price. I personally do an identical personal test for each such review.

These are the results: once I connected the earphones to the smartphone, I started audio playback. I started with a version MP3 a 320Kbps on Spotify of U2’s song Red Flag Day and the impact was really unexpected despite the input quality being not of the highest quality. The voice was very clear, the drums and the electric guitar satisfying and not too much oriented towards the low sounds as often happens with other headsets in the same price range. I was therefore really amazed by the reproductive quality of the entire sound spectrum, with full-bodied and soft bass, powerful highs and punchy and balanced mids. Then activating the HearID function I was able to notice an incredible improvement in the voice and in the lighter and lower sounds. So I decided to move on to something stronger by starting a mixed playback between EDM hardstyle, psystyle and hardrock and metal tracks in formato Flac. Here I got the confirmation: the highs and mids are splendid, with excellent timing, and the rhythm, is incredibly perfect especially in fast passages with a lot of bass. To test this aspect again I decided to switch to listening to two tracks by Audiomachine, in particular Guardians At the Gate and Breath and Life with many high sounds as opposed to unexpected bass and I noticed a very wide soundstage in frequencies and tones. perfectly balanced. Among other things, the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro allow you to be listened to individually using only the right or left earphone. Obviously it loses in volume, but the audio quality remains flawless.

Among the best earphones on the market

In conclusion the new Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro earphones have by far exceeded all expectations. They proved to be incredible valid companions for a thousand activities, including sports ones. These earphones are comfortable, durable and above all they sound great in all conditions. If we were to find any flaws, these could be found in the size and in a microphone that is so powerful as to be almost annoying during calls and video calls. But they are small things in front of the manufacturing and technical care of these earphones that, we remember, have a price of just 149,99 euro and often found at 99.99 euros in discount.
