Stellantis and Toyota together for a new commercial van, also in an electric version

Stellantis and Toyota Motor Europe (TME) have announced the expansion of their existing partnership with the production of a new large commercial van. This will also be offered in a 100% electric version. The new vehicle marks the third type of bodywork under the agreement between the two companies. The upcoming model complete gamma LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle), which already provides compact, medium and now full size options.

Stellantis will supply Toyota with the new van which will go on sale in Europe under the Japanese brand. The new vehicle it will be produced in the Stellantis plants in Gliwice, Poland, and Atessa, in Italyto. His arrival is scheduled for mid 2024. This date effectively marks Toyota Motor Europe’s debut in the large commercial vehicle segment.

Although nothing can be confirmed at the moment, the new model is likely the successor to today’s Ducato, which will receive a zero-emission variant.

Stellantis and Toyota continue the collaboration for the production of vans

The collaboration of Stellantis and TME began in 2012 with the medium-sized LCV manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Hordain, France. Later in 2019 he made a more compact model, manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Vigo, Spain. Today’s announcement allows Toyota to complete its range of light commercial vehicles in Europe. Not least, it allows both companies to benefit from the optimization of development and production costs.

Matt Harrison, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe commented. “We are delighted to be able to extend this successful partnership by introducing a new full-size commercial van. It is an important addition and complements our light commercial range for Toyota’s European customers. The new commercial vehicle will make a key contribution to Toyota’s growth targets for its overall range of light commercial vehicles. Together with the Hilux, Proace and Proace City models, it allows Toyota to provide mobility solutions in all segments of the LCV market ”.
