Production of the new chips is expected to start in 2023, with the plant that will be built at the ST headquarters in Catania next to the current infrastructures. It will be the first center of its kind to produce substrates from 150mm SiCwith the possibility in the future to develop even at 200mm.
The investment from 730 million euros over five years it will be supported by the Italian PNRR and will help bring another 700 jobs directly once completed.
