Synology: Introducing the DiskStation to store up to 324TB

Synology officially presented the DiskStation DS1823xs+a powerful centralized data storage solution in desktop format.

DiskStation DS1823xs+

The tower storage solution has a capacity of raw storage up to 144TB pre-expansionmaking it perfect for consolidating unstructured data in offices and studios, backing up servers and endpoints in offices and synchronizing files between devices and different locations, or managing local surveillance.

“The new eight-bay DiskStation DS1823xs+ is a powerful desktop tower server capable of processing heavy workloads and performing multitasking operations, such as continuous backups, surveillance video archiving, and more,” he said Julien Chen, Product Manager presso Synology Inc.

“For its size and capacity, the DS1823xs+ is the perfect local storage solution for situations where available space is limited and a flexible resource is needed to back up, archive and synchronize data.”

With over 3.100/2.600 MB/s of sequential read-write speeds and flexible configuration options, DS1823xs+ supports even demanding applications in creative and data-driven industries. Random I/O performance can be improved by adding volumes of SATA or M.2 NVM SSD storage and fast or by designating SSDs as read/write cache for HDD volumes.

Connectivity 10GbE built-in and ports 1/10/25GbE o Fibre Channel support bandwidth-intensive applications, while adding Synology DX517 expansion units can add up to a total raw storage of 324TB.

DS1823xs+ runs Synology’s browser-based DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, which simplifies remote administration, remote drive replacement, security monitoring, system health monitoring in the cloud, and a port for OOB (Out-Of-Band) management, which allows remote reboot, reset and troubleshooting even when the system is powered off.

Multifunctional data platform

Synology Drive allows users to access, share and sync files between PCs, Macs and mobile devices. With Hybrid Share, businesses can harness the power of the cloud to efficiently synchronize data across locations and expand storage as needed. Furthermore, most of your data is kept safe in Synology C2 Data Centers, while open file caches are maintained on local Synology servers.

In the DS1823xs+ it is possible to backup Linux, Mac and PC endpoints, servers, Synology systems, VMware® and Hyper-V® virtual machines, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, thanks to the Active Backup Suite.

Last but not least, files and LUNs stored on the DS1823xs+ can be protected against ransomware attacks and other threats thanks to Snapshot Replication. Hyper Backup, on the other hand, lets you back up your data securely to a variety of destinations such as external clouds.

Finally, multiple cameras can be added to DS1823xs+ with Synology’s Surveillance Station, a powerful and flexible VMS that supports over 8,300 ONVIF certified and validated IP cameras.
