Tesla delivery times too long and probable stop on orders

At the conference Future of the Car organizzata dal Financial Times, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has released some statements regarding the delivery times of some models. Musk explained how the company is struggling to meet the rapidly growing demand for its electric vehicles.

“Currently the lead time for having a Tesla, – Spiega Elon Musk – is too long, so our problem is not the demand, but the production. Even before the supply chain problems, Tesla’s demand outstripped production. Today it still is, but to a ridiculous extent ”.

While it may not seem like it, the problem is serious. Musk admitted that the company is considering stopping orders for some models where delivery times are too long.

“In reality, continua Musk, we will probably limit or simply stop taking orders for some models beyond a certain period of time because some lead times are beyond a year ”.

Tesla, infinite delivery times in the United States

Tesla’s CEO added that Tesla customers are frustrated by the long delivery estimates. Many of them are unwilling to buy a car for which they have to wait an unreasonable amount of time. This is why Musk claims he doesn’t care about the question. The CEO is focused on manufacturing, engineering and supply chain.

As Tesla boasts a massive increase in orders in several regions of the United States, some models are out of stock until 2023. This is despite the significant price increases that have affected the entire range over the past two years.

Currently, many of Tesla’s vehicles have delivery estimates in 2023. For example Model Y Long Range (from November 2022 to February 2023), Model X Long Range (January to April 2023). It’s no better for the Model S Long Range (October 2022 to January 2023).

The “best” delivery times in the USA they are for Tesla Model 3 Performance (June to August 2022), Model 3 Long Range (July to October 2022) e Model 3 RWD (August to November 2022).
