Tesla: second Musk the Gigafactory Berlin will be active from November

Elon Musk said during the new party Tesla Gigafactory near Berlin, that the company aims to begin production of its Model Y cars later this year. However, Tesla is still awaiting final approval for the German plant, as local authorities are currently assessing its environmental impact on the area.

Tesla held a county fair-style event on Saturday titled “Giga-Fest“, In Gruenheide near where the Gigafactory stands, complete with music, rides and food trucks, along with a tour of the new factory for local residents. Tesla’s German Gigafactory is in the final stages of construction, and Musk explained that Tesla will plant more trees than he cut during the construction of the factory, while also using as little water as possible during production.

Musk first announced in 2019 that Tesla would locate its European Gigafactory right in Germany. Referred to by the Tesla founder as the “machine that builds the machine,” the plant’s goal is to produce up to 500,000 cars a year and to have approximately 12,000 employees in its workforce.

The main part of the production chain will be dedicated to Tesla Model Y, and once fully operational the factory should be able to build a body every 45 seconds. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, production could start in November and customer deliveries will follow in December.

At the moment it is not clear whether the plant will also produce other cars besides the Model Y, but it is likely that we will know more soon.
