The first Aston Martin Valkyrie is finally ready for delivery

Earlier this year, Aston Martin set a date for its new Valkyrie. The brand’s first hypercar has been planned for years, but has never been built. However, Aston Martin had previously announced that the delivery of the first examples of the Valkyrie to customers was scheduled for “mid-2021”. Slightly delayed compared to forecasts, it is now certain that the delivery of the car to the first (lucky) customer should now be upon us.

There was first talk of an Aston Martin-branded hypercar in 2016, when it was announced that the British brand would develop a “F1 car for the road” together with Red Bull and in particular with Adrian Newey. The project, then called AM RB 001 (Aston Martin Red Bull project number 1), gradually morphed into its production version which was officially unveiled in 2017 as the Valkyrie.

At the Gaydon factory they are working overtime to finish the cars. A team of highly qualified technicians he is building each of the planned 150 cars by hand, with each Valkyrie which takes over 2000 hours of work to be assembled. Before each Valkyrie is delivered, it is track tested at Aston Martin’s high performance facility at the headquarters of British Motor Racing at Silverstone, where much of the development of the hypercar took place.

Aston Martin Valkyrie, the fastest car in the world?

The Valkyrie boasts a V12 hybrid powertrain that develops a maximum power of 1,155 hp. With extreme aerodynamics reminiscent of a Formula 1 car, this could become the fastest car in the world on the road.

In total, including all special editions, as mentioned, about 150 units will be built, which will cost about 3.5 million euros. Stuff for a few and wealthy enthusiasts.

Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers commented: “It is a moment of great pride for us to complete our first ever hypercar. The Aston Martin Valkyrie program tested everyone who worked on it to the limit, but the commitment to the dream produced a truly incredible car, an F1 car for the road. Valkyrie was born from the constant dedication of a large group of highly skilled engineers and technicians who worked tirelessly to bring Valkyrie to the production stage. I’m sure our customers will be thrilled with what we have achieved ”.
