In the past few hours, ABC has made official the programming of the pilot episode of The Hurt Unit, the new medical drama starring Ben McKenzie: let’s find out all the details together
Those of you who grew up with the TV series of the early 2000s will remember Benjamin McKenzie as the dark and charming protagonist of The OC, a series created by Josh Schwartz which aired until 2007. However, the young actor was, more recently, also the protagonist of the highly appreciated Gotham, TV series belonging to the world of Batman and which serves as a prequel focused on the backstories of heroes and villains of the DC franchise. A Netflix series that has been a resounding success and which consists of five seasons.
Medical drama fans who mourn Ellen Pompeo’s departure from Grey’s Anatomy will have good news reading these lines. In the past few hours, in fact, the ABC has disclosed the news for which the pilot episode of The Hurt Unit will be filmed, a new MD in which the actor will be the protagonist again. For now, only the pilot episode will be shot and, if the idea pleases the company’s high officials, the broadcast will take place in the next season, 2023/2024, on ABC and Disney Plus.
Benjamin McKenzie will play the role of Danny, a surgeon in charge of a specialized hospital unit called HURT. The team is made up of surgeons and trauma nurses working in the field and on patients who would have no hope of making it to the hospital in time. Therefore, rather severe tremors will be treated and, according to what has been stated, the psyche of the health professionals who operate in these contexts will also be explored.
