Driving a car with a hand on the steering wheel
From 6 July it becomes mandatory, for new car models making their debut in Europe, include the system as standard Intelligent Speed Assistancealso known as ISA. This is a particular device capable of automatically adjusting the speed of the vehicle according to the context of use, guaranteeing the driver the possibility of respecting the speed limits. The system will become mandatory for all vehicles on the market from 2024.
The Intelligent Speed Assistance system connects to the camera and the front radar (sensors used for the recognition of road signs and for other functions such as cruise control) and is able to set a limit to the speed of the vehicle. The system can warn the user, for example with an acoustic signal, that the speed limit has been exceeded. It should be noted that the ISA is also able to reduce the speed of the vehicle, adjusting it to the limits.
The new system becomes mandatory from this month of July on all new models presented in the EU. Manufacturers introducing new cars in the near future will therefore be required to include Intelligent Speed Assistance as standard equipment. Starting in 2024insteadISA will be mandatory for all cars on the market (also for models presented before 6 July 2022) which must include the device in the standard equipment.
