The iOS 16 wallpaper spoils the iPhone 14 Pro’s always-on display

The rumors on the display of theiPhone 14 Pro are now quite certain. The screen of the new smartphone from Apple should not only have a new design, but also support an always-on mode. And now, finally, to confirm these rumors there are also the iOS 16 wallpapers, which have been updated to take advantage of this new technology. A small spoiler from Apple, which thus anticipates one of the many details of the new iPhones.

iPhone 14 Pro: iOS 16 svela in anticipo il display always-on

For those unfamiliar with the always-on display, it should be noted that this allows the system to continue to show some information on the screen, such as the clock, while consuming very little battery. An option already present on some Android smartphones, and which will soon arrive also on the iPhone 14 Pro – at least according to what has been announced for some time by Mark Gurman -. The new model from Apple, in fact, will have a variable refresh rate which comes down to 1 Hz per second. And which therefore should consume less energy than current models.

To confirm the always-on display there is also 9to5Mac, which found some references to this support in iOS 16. Based on some files inside the beta 4, the portal has discovered that the system wallpapers are now ready for this new one. display mode always active. With iOS 16, in fact, wallpapers are no longer static images, but rather multilayer vectors rendered in real time. With the new beta, these are joined by a new state called “Sleep”, which has very dark and faded elements, similar to those of the Apple Wacht with always-on display. This means that once the user turns off the iPhone 14 Pro screen, the wallpaper will switch to the “Sleep” version.

Basically, it appears that Apple will replicate the same effect as the Apple Watch on the iPhone 14 Pro. Therefore, users will continue to see the wallpaper even when the display is turned off. But this will then be displayed at maximum brightness when you tap the screen or press the power button. With the always-on mode, however, the clock and widgets chosen by the user will be visible even when the screen is “off”. Seeing is believing.
