The new LEGO cabinet will let us play PAC-MAN

The LEGO Group and Bandai Namco celebrate the 43rd anniversary of PAC-MAN with the announcement of the new LEGO ICONS vintage set PAC-MAN Arcade

Released May 22, 1980 in Japan by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. (formerly Namco), the video game PAC-MAN it quickly became a cultural icon. After 40 years of presence in pop culture around the world through games, TV shows, music and other forms of entertainment, the LEGO Group has collaborated with Bandai Namco to bring the famous 80s game in brick format.

Thanks to this collaboration, an interesting fun fact also emerged: the famous yellow color of PAC-MAN was inspired by the characteristic color of the LEGO Group.

Let’s see the details of the LEGO ICONS PAC-MAN Arcade cabinet

The new LEGO set represents an arcade version of PAC-MAN and allows you to recreate some of the legendary ghost-chasing and catching moves from the video game. Plus, enthusiasts can enjoy building the big, colorful versions of PAC-MAN, BLINKERS e CLYDEwhich rotate on a special base and which can be displayed above the video game or wherever you want.

Once construction is complete, it is possible illuminate the coin drawer, while hidden inside the cubicle is a small vignette of a female minifigure playing PAC-MAN in an arcade. Describing the design process of the new set, Sven FranicDesigner of the LEGO Group, comments:

It was a pleasure to transform an icon of the last 40 years like PAC MAN into a brick format! At the LEGO Group, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to revive the most nostalgic play experiences. Our team of designers have worked tirelessly to capture the essence of the beloved PAC-MAN arcade machine but in brick-built format: from PAC-MAN himself to the colorful maze he inhabits. No detail has been left to chance, resulting in a one-of-a-kind LEGO model. The set captures the magic of the original game, while adding a new twist and a couple of exciting Easter Eggs. We are thrilled to share this incredible build with the world and can’t wait to see the joy it will bring to fans of all ages.

Prices and availability

Members of the Loyalty Program will be able to have early access to the purchase of the LEGO PAC-MAN Arcade set starting June 1, 2023 in LEGO Stores and on the official website. It will be available to everyone from June 4, 2023 at a price of €269.99.
