The third work of the American director promises to be violent and with breathtaking scenery. What do we know about The Northman

Inspired by ancient Norse sagas, the story of The Northman was written by Eggers together with the Icelandic writer and poet Sjón Sigurdssonand sees Alexander Skarsgard in the role of Multiple (not by chance). Young Prince Amleth is about to become a man when the father is brutally murdered by his uncle, who then kidnaps his mother. Fleeing the island kingdom by boat, the boy swears revenge. Two decades later, Amleth is a Viking berserker who raids Slavic villages, where a seer reminds him of her vow: avenge his father, save his mother, kill his uncle. Traveling on a slave ship to Iceland, Amleth infiltrates his uncle’s farm with the help of Olga, a Slavic woman enslaved, and sets out to honor her vow.

Il cast di The Northman comprende Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang ,, Gustav Lindh, Ethan Hawke, Björk, Anya Taylor-Joy e Willem Dafoe. The latter two have already collaborated with Eggers on his two previous feature films. Taylor-Joy back in 2015 was in fact the protagonist of The VVitchwhile we saw Willem Dafoe alongside Robert Pattinson in The Lighthouse of 2019. After a great critical success achieved with these two films, Eggers is also finally looking for a great box office result and this The Northman has all the credentials to break through the hearts of the spectators.
