The “rebirth” of the Nokia brand loses another piece with the end of the partnership with Zeiss. The new Nokia smartphones, produced by HMD Global, will not be able to rely on Zeiss lenses in the future. The partnership ended in 2021. Here are all the details:
Zeiss confirmed to have partnership with HMD Global terminated for the supply of lenses for the cameras of the smartphone Nokia. The next devices of HMD Global, therefore, will not be able to count on the partnership with the company. Furthermore, references to Zeiss have already been removed from the Nokia site.
Note that llatest Nokia smartphone to arrive on the market as a result of the partnership was the Nokia XR20. HMD Global has significantly slowed down the development of new projects in recent months after poor results achieved in the past.
The collaboration between the historic Finnish brand and Zeiss dates back to many years ago. The first telephone born from the partnership between the two companies was the Nokia N90 arrived on the market in the distant past 2005. Over the years, the mobile phone industry has changed completely and Nokia has failed to carve out its space. The end of the collaboration with Zeiss marks a further slowdown in the relaunch program.
We will see what Nokia’s next projects for the smartphone sector will be.
