In the second half of 2022 we should see a recovery of the semiconductor market: these are the forecasts of Foxconnone of the giants of the electronics industry. Liu Young-way, President of the group, has in fact declared that the production is going “in a better direction”. And this is thanks above all to the resumption of work in factories in China, which have been blocked due to the increase in infections from Covid-19.
“We are quite confident in the stability of our supply network for the second half of this year,” said Liu Young-way of the performance of the semiconductor market. In fact, starting yesterday, the Shanghai government allowed workers to return to work in factories, at least in the “low risk” areas of contagion. A decision that could help the sector market to recover slowly. Although the purchase of hi-tech products is going through a period of crisis, as users have not made many purchases due to the restrictions of the pandemic.

Precisely for this reason, Foxconn is thinking of “conquering” the market of semiconductors and hardware for automobiles. Smartphone sales, as anticipated, will be down this quarter. And the company is rightfully thinking of looking elsewhere, with the goal of reach 5% of production of the sector by 2025. A growth that will be driven above all by the supply of electric vehicle chips. On the other hand, the automotive sector seems to really need someone to take care of the supply of chips. Toyota itself, in March, announced a 20% cut in production due to the lack of chips. But now the semiconductor market may have found the right gear to solve any problem.
