The Smurfs return to the big screen in a new animation project, an animated film that has just announced the involvement of Rihanna to voice Smurfette

The Smurfs are about to return to the big screen in a new project, it is an animated film, whose official title is not yet known, but which has just made an important announcement. The announcement concerns the addition to the cast of music star Rihanna who will give the voice of the character of Smurfette.

The Smurfs: Rihanna will be the voice of Smurfette

It is not the first time that the singer and pop music star Rihanna has taken part in a film project, in fact we have already seen her in Ocean’s Thirteen alongside a stellar cast. What is surprising in this case is being able to see it in such a classic animated film suitable for children and for this reason, the news makes this new cartoon even more interesting. The singer will not only be a voice actress, but has also been included in the production team and will take care of composing the music and interpreting the original songs of the film.

The official title of the film is not yet known, but we know the theatrical release which will be on February 14, 2025, produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. The direction was entrusted to Chris Miller, director of Shrek the Third and Puss in Boots as well as Kowalski’s voice actor in Madagascar and Matt Landon, producer of the cartoon The Little Prince of 2015.

This would be the fourth Smurf film that we see designed for the cinema, in fact there were two chapters in 2011 and 2013 and a third title, The Smurfs: A Journey into the Forest in 2017. We can’t wait to find out more about this film which is related to one of the greatest animation classics of our childhood and which will surely have a big change with the entrance of Rihanna.
