The Tragedy of Macbeth: Joel Coen’s film on Apple TV +

Apple TV + and A24 will produce The Tragedy of Macbeth, a new film by Joel Coen starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand

A single Coen brother for the reinterpretation of one of William Shakespeare’s best-known tragedies! It will in fact be the only one Joel coen to direct The Tragedy of Macbeth. The tragedy centers – as we all know – on General Macbeth’s bloody ascent to the throne of Scotland. To play the protagonist will be Denzel Washington, while Oscar’s freshest actress Frances McDormand will be Lady Macbeth.

According to Deadline, Apple TV + and A24 have struck a deal to grab the rights to The Tragedy of Macbeth. The film will make its debut later this year in theaters around the world, before being released on the Apple TV + streaming platform.

In the cast we will find, in addition to the protagonists, also Brendan Gleeson, Corey Hawkins, Sean Patrick Thomas, Ralph Ineson and Brian Thompson. As for the technical sector, it will bring together some assiduous collaborators of the Coen brothers, including Bruno Delbonnel as director of photography, Mary Zophres as costume designer and Carter Burwell as author of the soundtrack. Producers will be Coen himself, Frances McDormand and Robert Graf.

This is a good move for Apple, which lately has been enriching its catalog with many leading products, ensuring a great success for the next film season. Among the upcoming releases we find CODA, a film by Siân Heder (great success at the Sundance Film Festival and remake of The Bélier family), purchased for a whopping 25 million dollars. Another much awaited release is Finch, post-apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Miguel Sapochnik starring Tom Hanks.
