The Volkswagen Group launches a new mobility service in Stampalia

The mobility of the future becomes reality on the Greek island of Stampalia (Astypalea) with the Volkswagen Group project. In fact, the German company has activated the ride sharing service ASTYBUS and the sharing service astyGO (for cars, scooters and electric bikes). Both projects use 100% electric vehicles. With this project, the Volkswagen group aims to support the transition to intelligent mobility and sustainability for the island of Stampalia, also going to renew the energy system.

The idea comes from a joint project of the Volkswagen Group and the Hellenic Republic which, together, aim at transform the island of Stampalia. It is a real laboratory for decarbonisation in Europe, an example to follow in view of the next few years in which the farewell to sales of petrol and diesel models is expected.

With the sharing service astyGO, customers can rent Volkswagen electric cars, SEAT MÓ electric scooters and Ducati electric bicycles. It should be noted, however, that ride sharing ASTYBUS will use a fleet of five Volkswagen IDs. Buzz (starting next fall) and ID.4. These services will take the place of a traditional bus line and will be active all year round, connecting many more places on the island.
