The Wayward Realms: a new open world from the authors of The Elder Scrolls

The Elder Scrolls-style fantasy revives with two of its greatest and most beloved authors: here is the new open world title, The Wayward Realms

Ted Peterson and Julian LeFay, two of the authors from The Elder Scrolls, I’m now working on the new fantasy title open world, The Wayward Realms. The ambition behind the project is not lacking, since the creators already call it “the new great RPG”. The map will be a colossal archipelago literally called Archipelago, where hundreds (“or thousands”) of non-player characters await us. Also, there will be no lack of lore at the plot level, but it is on the customization front that things get really interesting, both for variety and for influence on the plot and gameplay.

You may be more familiar with two The Elder Scrolls from the authors of The Wayward Realms, namely Arena and Daggerfall, but it’s not so much the open world structure that convinces us entirely. They are rather the options of customization to really make us greedy, with “out of the box” options such as creating classes that will have a “noticeable” impact on the story. Each player’s experience will be different, then, but don’t expect the wait to be short. For the hundred islands of this immense archipelago, including swamps, mountains and forests, the exit date it will be the most realistic thing to wait for (not unlike the stepbrother).

Don’t be fooled by the presence of a Steam page: it only serves to generate chatter, according to Peterson and LeFay themselves. If the trailer above has made you hungry, we would advise you instead to arm yourself with a lot, but a lot patience. We do not doubt that we will find out more later, but OnceLost Games has made no secret that it will not be talked about for at least two years. We will understand over time how well placed ambition is, even if in the case of Rockstar we have had the demonstration of how much aiming high can pay off.
