The Whale: the film with Brendan Fraser, from February 23 to the cinema

On February 23 The Whale will finally be released in Italian cinemas, the film starring Brendan Fraser is already a success abroad

In Italy it is not yet available, but in the USA there is already talk of a huge success at the box office and critical acclaim. We are talking about The Whalea film that is preparing to make large numbers in our country too, given that the images that portray Brendan Fraser alone have already made a lot of talk about themselves, circulating on the web for some time.

The film tells the story of Charlie, an obese and lonely English teacher, forced to live with his own ghosts and tormented by a secret love that has continued for years. The man lives a stormy relationship with his teenage daughter, but tries in every way to reconnect with her, so as not to lose the only opportunity for redemption that he could have from her life.

In the film, Charlie is played by Brendan Fraser (The mummy, 1999), at his side Sadie Sink (Stranger Things, 2017-ongoing). Also in the cast Hong Chau (Downsizing – Living large, 2017), Ty Simpkins (Jurassic World, 2015 e Avengers: Endgame, 2019) e Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead, 2019-2020).

The Whale is produced by Darren Aronofskywho also handled the direction and from A24. The script is by Samuel D. Hunter and based on the play of the same name. Distributed by I Wonder Pictures e Unipol Biografilm Collectionthe film was presented in competition at the 79th Venice International Film Festival.

The Whale: Brendan Fraser and other Oscar nominations

The success achieved in the United States does not seem to be enough for The Whale, which is preparing for the night of the Oscar, with 3 nominations. The protagonist, Brendan Fraser was indeed nominated as best leading actorwhile Hong Chau was nominated as best supporting actress. Instead, Anne Marie Bradley, Judy Chin and Adrien Morot were nominated in the category best makeup and hairstyle.
