CD PROJEKT RED, in a latest press release, announced the development on Unreal Engine 5 the new game Of The Witcher; the fact will therefore sign a partnership with Epic Games. This is the official confirmation of what the community had suspected for some time, namely that a new episode of the Strigo saga was in the works. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.

The Witcher: for the new game CD Projekt RED is “allied” with Epic Games!

Well yes, a new game from The Witcher is in development at CD Projekt RED. On the occasion of the official announcement, the Polish studio, which includes productions of the caliber of Cyberpunk 2077 in its corporate curriculum, has released a ‘teaser image accompanied by the following caption: “A new saga begins”. For now, no details are known on the title in question.

CD PROJEKT RED also reported that the use of Unreal Engine 5 will mark the beginning of a strategic partnership with the giant Epic Games. Since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, CD PROJEKT RED has always used its own proprietary game engine, namely the REDengine. We leave you to the words of Paweł ZawodnyCTO di CD PROJEKT RED:

One of the central aspects of our internal “RED 2.0” transformation is a greater focus on technology, and our cooperation with Epic Games is based on this principle. From the beginning, we didn’t consider the more traditional option of the license agreement; both we and Epic see it as a satisfying and lasting partnership. For CD PROJEKT RED, it is vital to establish the technical direction of our next video game from the early stages: in the past, we have spent a lot of energy evolving and adapting the REDengine to each sequel. This cooperation is exciting, because it increases efficiency and will make development planning more conducive, as well as providing us with access to cutting-edge technological tools. I can’t wait to see the games we’re going to create using Unreal Engine 5!

Tim SweeneyFounder and CEO of Epic Games, added:

Epic built Unreal Engine 5 for development teams to create open, dynamic worlds in a level of detail never seen before. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with CD PROJEKT RED to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling and gameplay together, and this will benefit the entire developer community for years to come.

CD PROJEKT RED has however confirmed that the REDengine will still be used for the development of the next expansion of Cyberpunk 2077.
