Twitter Makes Millions of Dollars From Banned Accounts? Yes, according to research

Twitter is gaining Millions of dollars by some of his account which they have been previously prohibited, according to a new report. New research from the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) estimates that Twitter will generate up to $19 million annually in ad revenue from just 10 accounts that were once banned from the platform.

Ben ten previously banned accounts due to the publication of hateful content and dangerous conspiracies were restored after the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk. Among these accounts we find people associated with radical extremism, conspiracy theories and no-vaxes.

To estimate how much the social network actually earned, CCDH analyzed nearly 10,000 tweets from these accounts during a 47-day period between December and January. According to their analysis, “on an average day, tweets from the ten accounts received a total of 54 million impressions“, they write. “Projecting this average over 365 days, accounts can be expected to reach nearly 20 billion impressions over the course of a year.”

To understand the amount of ad revenue these impressive ads can generate, CCDH says it created three new Twitter accounts to follow just the 10 accounts named in the report. Advertisements were found to appear approximately once for every 6.7 tweets. Thus, it is estimated that “Twitter ads cost an average of $6.46 per 1,000 impressions. CCDH got a total figure of up to $19 million in estimated annual advertising revenue across accounts.

Despite this, however, the fact is known that Twitter have suffered a severe blow since Elon Musk took over. A number of high-profile advertisers have pulled out of the platform, and revenue has dropped by up to 40 percent, according to reports from Platformer.
