WeWard, the most downloaded app in France immediately after the Covid contact tracking app (TousAntiCovid), also lands in Italy. Launched in France in 2019, in Belgium in 2020 and in Spain last June, the WeWard app has recently also been available in our country. In less than a week WeWard conquered Italian users with nearly 50,000 downloads and climbed to second place in the Apple Store.
WeWard is a free app that encourages its users to practice daily physical activity, economically rewarding the kilometers traveled and the goals achieved. The mechanism is simple: just download the app from the Apple Store or Google Play, register, and start walking. Depending on the level of physical activity, there are thresholds that each user must reach to earn Ward. Each level passage provides for the assignment of a number of Wards, which, converted into Euros, can be credited to one’s current account, used in affiliated shops in the form of discount codes or gift cards, or transformed into donations.
They are altogether beyond 500 WeWard partners – independent chains and stores – where to accumulate Ward. These include Nike, Decathlon, H&M, Booking, Marionnaud, Foot Locker, Converse, SoShape, Barner and others.
Ward accumulation can occur in multiple ways. In addition to walking, you can earn Ward by participating in challenges launched by the app, by launching challenges to your friends, answering surveys, visiting unusual places along the routes suggested by the app, watching advertising videos or buying in affiliated stores.
By putting walking at the center of daily life, WeWard wanted to adopt an eco-responsible approach, pursuing 3 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda:
“We were born in 2019 with the intention of developing an app that would be useful to people and at the same time help them to socialize, to visit the most beautiful things the area offers – parks, villas, monuments – and doing good for themselves themselves, to the planet and to the local community. Our goal is to reach 15 million users by the end of 2022 and to consolidate our network of partners, mainly in proximity to small towns. ” – commented Yves Benchimol, CEO of WeWard.
