Windows 11: What Intel or AMD processor will I need to support it?

In this mini-guide we will discover the hardware requirements necessary to be able to use the new Windows 11 recently announced by Microsoft

After the presentation of the new Windows 11 there have been many discussions about the hardware requirements that will be necessary to fully support the new operating system of the Redmond multinational. In this mini-guideprecisely, you will find a list of processors of the two major manufacturers, Intel e AMDcompatible with the new Windows 11.

Intel and AMD CPUs compatible with Windows 11

The old Windows 10 sure was a lot generous with the hardware he found as he was not particularly picky. The story is different with regards to Windows 11, as for Technical specificationsthe minimum requirements become slightly more stringent ed demanding. According to what we read from the official support pages, here is the list of compatible processors.

  • Intel: 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th generation Core family, Xeon family Skylake-SP, Cascade Lake-SP, Cooper Lake-SP and Ice Lake-SP (new models added, including Pentium and Celeron models). The latest Microsoft update does not rule out the inclusion of Intel 7th Gen CPUs.
  • AMD: Ryzen 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 family, Ryzen Threadripper 2000, 3000 and Pro 3000 family, 2nd and 3rd generation EPYC family (new models are added). The latest Microsoft update does not exclude the inclusion of AMD Zen 1.

As for other hardware requirements, they are also listed 4GB of RAM required and the TPM 2.0 chip. The release has not yet been made official, what is known, however, is that insiders will receive one official preview version soon.

What can those who do not have the minimum hardware do?

Surely they will be able to stall in peace. Microsoft has in fact guaranteed full support for Windows 10 until October 14, 2025. The platform, however, is performed without too many criticalities even by not particularly brilliant hardware, consequently everything suggests that a solution will be found without particular problems.
