Xiaomi measures the carbon footprint of products

Al Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ​​Xiaomi has announced an important novelty in terms of sustainability: started the process of carbon footprint measurement of products – starting with its latest flagship. By certifying its carbon emissions with an external body, the company has established a comprehensive process for measuring its carbon footprint.

Xiaomi measures the carbon footprint of products

Xiaomi adopts the LCA approach (life cycle analysis) to measure the total greenhouse gas emissions of its products. Starting from the extraction of materials to production, distribution and even storage. To get to the use and eventual disposal of the product.

For the brand new Xiaomi 13 Pro, the measurements were 62.8kg of CO2, a quantity that complies with the PAS2050 standard.

This initiative has allowed us to take significant steps forward in the reducing the carbon footprint of our devices and to start a journey with the aim of having a positive impact on the environment. To date, Xiaomi offers more than 40 products with energy saving option and uses the One Paper Box design for reduce packaging by 40%. However, carbon footprint reporting is a fundamental step for sustainability.

Xiaomi operates in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To the commitment of reporting the carbon footprint, it also adds awareness for one sustainable lifestyle with National Geographic Magazine China.
