War affects everyone.
How many times have we heard this from our grandparents? Or read in school books? And how many times have we thought it was exaggerated? Instead it is just like that. War spares no one. We notice it too, 2,000 km away, as we struggle to focus on daily activities, with the online newspapers open to see if the situation is improving or not. AND companies are also aware of this, as they have to deal with the consequences of what is happening between Russia and Ukraine.
We are not speaking only of European companies, now openly aligned, but also of Chinese ones. Well yes, despite Beijing’s “neutrality”, Chinese companies appear to be affected by the conflict.
At the forefront we find Xiaomi.
The company has canceled a product launch in Ukraine, scheduled for last week. A seemingly small event but the state led by Zelensky has 44 million inhabitants with Xiaomi which has just become the number 1 brand of the Ukrainian smartphone market. The war will surely lead to a drop in salesnot to mention that China’s non-intervention could push consumers to other brands, such as Samsung.
Also Oppo has recently grown a lot in Ukraine. Today it holds 6% of the market and is the third most popular smartphone brand. Even for Oppo, which a couple of weeks had cut the price of the Oppo A55, difficult times could come in Ukraine.
We do not forget Huawei e ZTE, who helped Kiev build the infrastructure for 3G and 4G. They too may face difficult times.
It’s true, the Russian market always remainsor, but even here the situation could worsen due to the sanctions imposed by Washington and Brussels, which make it difficult for everyone to export technological products.
