YouTube is experimenting with a new feature that allows users to react with emoticons at specific moments in a video. Let’s find out all the details together.
Sometimes a YouTube video is worth it more accurate feedback e concrete compared to a simple comment, a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down”. Similarly, YouTube has decided to test a new feature that allows users to di use specific timed emojis. This means that viewers can use ato emoticons at a specific moment in the video.
Users can also see how others reacted during the duration of a video. There will be a reaction panel with emoji separated in the comments section of each video that will show the emoji reactions you can use at that moment. The panel is very similar to those already offered by Facebook Live and Twitch. Meaghana representative of the YouTube Team, said:
If you are watching a video that is part of this experiment, you can react and see the reactions of the crowd by opening the comments section of the video and tapping the reaction panel. The test will also show you what moments other viewers are reacting to (which will be anonymised – we won’t show who sent each reaction). We are testing multiple sets of reactions and will add or remove reactions based on how the experiment goes.
YouTube is currently testing emoji reactions on a small number of channels to start but will expand the function depending on the reception. Users will have a wide range of emoji reactions at their disposal. We are curious to know how the public will react with this new function.
