911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition

The list of special versions of the current Porsche 911 has been enriched with the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition, derived from the Targa 4 GTS, and created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Porsche Design studio. The series will be limited to 750 pieces and all will have a black livery to celebrate the company’s first product, namely the 1972 Chronograph I watch.

The special version of the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition as mentioned is based on the 911 Targa 4 GTS, which means that is equipped with a powerful 3.0 “turbo-six” boxer engine (480 HP and 570 Nm), an eight-speed PDK gearbox “(or if you want you can opt for a” seven-speed mechanical) and four-wheel drive. Also standard on the GTS are PASM adaptive suspension, a specific sounding sports exhaust system and brakes used in the 911 Turbo.

The 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition is offered in two body colors: standard black and “metallic” Jet Black, combined with accents in semi-gloss platinum. The wheels with a diameter of 20 inches at the front and 21 at the rear are the same as on the 911 Turbo S. The Sport Design package with high-gloss black brake calipers is standard. The grille in the engine compartment is decorated with a badge with the words “Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition”.

The interior is also predominantly done in black, decorated with commemorative plaques, embossing and the signature of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. The adaptive Plus sports seats with memory function are upholstered in special leather, but the center inserts are made of Sport-Tex fabric with a classic black and gray pattern. On the front is the Porsche Design Subsecond analog clock (part of the Sport Chrono Package). The red seconds hand was made in this color, again to remind the 1972 Chronograph I.

911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition and two watches to celebrate the 50th anniversary

The case of both it is made of titanium instead of stainless steelLike the original, the watch also features a new automatic movement WORK 01.140 with power reserve of up to 48 hours. The high accuracy of the chronograph is confirmed by the certificate of the Swiss Office for the Control of the Accuracy of Chronometers (COSC), and the status of a “collector” product is confirmed by a edition of 500 copies.

Finally, the 911 S 2.4 Targa sports car from 1972 is also presented together with the 911 Anniversary Edition and the clock. Porsche Classic has restored the car over the past two years and unveiled it just in time for Porsche Design’s birthday. . The classic Targa is decorated in the same black and gray colors and technically corresponds to the top of the range 911 S 2.4 Targa.
