Apple registers the “Reality” trademarks ahead of the launch of the headset

Il Apple viewer is now one of the most awaited products by all technology enthusiasts. And now, it seems, the new device seems to finally have a name. According to what reported by Bloomberg, in fact, the company would have submitted applications for the registration of the names “Reality One“, “Reality Pro” e “Reality Processor“. Applications arrived in the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Uruguay. What will it really mean? That the company is finally ready to introduce its mixed reality headset?

Apple’s headset could be launched with the name “Reality”

It is now well known that Apple is ready to launch a headset that combines the technology of virtual and augmented reality, so as to be able to better compete with Meta’s proposal. Now, apparently, the device appears to have a name. According to Bloomberg, in fact, the Cupertino company has submitted requests to register three different ones names related to the “Reality” brand, which have not yet received actual approval. On the other hand, Apple’s interest in “Reality” was well known since 2017when for the first time the company worked on the “rOS” or realityOS. In 2019, Apple released a developer framework called “RealityKit” to help create augmented reality experiences. Therefore, the idea that the new headset has a similar name doesn’t surprise that much.

The proposed registration of the names “Reality One”, “Reality Pro” and “Reality Processor” are incredibly consistent. Whereas the viewer from Apple will be the first of the company, the name “Reality One” makes a lot of sense. As for the “Reality Pro” option, however, it must be considered that the device will absolutely be high-end, with a price that could be around $ 2000. The name “Reality Processor”, finally, could refer to a chip designed specifically for the viewer. As far as we know, Apple plans to use a system-on-a-chip M2 con 16 gigabytes of memory for the device, but it may need additional processing technology to handle the high-resolution VR and AR graphics.

Whatever the name of the headset, one thing seems to be certain: the device will offer an augmented reality version of the most popular Apple apps, such as Maps e FaceTimein addition to a number of collaboration functionality for users who wear the headset. To this will also be added the proposal of multimedia content such as sports, VR movies and games. And maybe even some useful options for health monitoring. If so, it is clear that Apple’s headset would be a worthy competitor for the Meta Quest Pro, which should debut in October. Even if it really won’t have anything to do with the “Reality” brand.
