Discovery Tour: Viking Age arrives in October

Ubisoft announced that Discovery Tour: Viking Age, the educational experience that will allow you to explore and interact with the history and culture of the Viking Age world, will be available on October 19. Let’s find out all the details together.

Discovery Tour: Viking Age arrives for free in October

Discovery Tour: Viking Age will be available for free for all owners of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, available on the same platforms as the main game. There standalone version for PC of the title, however, will be available through Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store at € 19.99.

The title will also arrive as a standalone on Stadia, Luna, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S | X at the beginning of 2022.

This new chapter of educational expansions of Assassin’s Creed will let you know in more in-depth history and the traditions of the Vikings. This interactive experience is an immersive immersion into the Viking Age that took place in 9th century Norway and England.

For this new chapter, the Ubisoft Montreal development team has changed the cards on the table, rendering the experience even more fun. The title puts the storytelling and it storytelling at the center of the experience. Players will step into the shoes of Viking and Anglo-Saxon characters of the time experiencing their small and large businesses. During their memorable adventures, they will also be able to interact with the surrounding world and its inhabitants.

The museums that have collaborated with Ubisoft

• Hampshire Cultural Trust: Ubisoft’s lead partner for Discovery Tour: Viking Age, operates 23 museums and arts attractions in Hampshire and handles 2.5 million items linked to Hampshire’s rich international heritage. The Discovery Tour offers a unique insight into the lives of the common people of Winchester and the surrounding area thanks to a selection of rare items including the excellent Winchester Reliquary, the only sacred relic of the period on British soil.

• The British Library à the national library of the United Kingdom. It boasts a huge collection of objects, including artifacts from any historical era. A collaboration with the British Library was crucial for Ubisoft to give the best access to medieval manuscripts and illustrations related to the Viking era.

• The Grand Palais photo agency is a public industrial and commercial institution under the authority of the French Ministry of Culture. He is officially responsible for promoting the collections of French national museums. Each year he captures more than 20,000 new shots on-site to further expand the agency’s collection, which is available online. They have been an essential partner since the first Discovery Tour. Their vast collections have been instrumental in supporting Ubisoft’s approach to the title. This allows players to admire items such as the Bayeux Tapestry or the Sutton Hoo helmet.

• It York Archaeological Trust: directs the Jorvik Viking Center in the United Kingdom, which has studied the excavations of the Coppergate in York making them accessible to all. The Discovery Tour allowed Ubisoft to showcase some of these finds with a new medium, adding authentic details from that period.

• The National Museum of Denmark, Nationalmuseet, consists of a network of 20 museums across the country with a unique collection of objects covering much of Danish history. Displaying the artifacts from the National Museum added extra depth to the Discovery Tour, demonstrating incredible craftsmanship and aesthetic skills.

• The Preston Park Museum & Grounds: the local museum of the Stockton-on-Tees district which gave the Discovery Tour team a unique opportunity to highlight two key elements of the Viking era. The new Anglo-Scandinavian culture emerged from funerary art and one of the only two nearly intact Viking helmets in the world, the Helmet of Yarm. The Museum will host a special traveling Viking exhibit in early 2022 with events that will complement the Discovery Tour: Viking Age.
