FIFA: Will EA change the name of the series to “EA Sports FC”?

According to persistent rumors Electronic arts will change the name of its FIFA series to “EA Sports FC”

Recently, it seems extremely inevitable that the licensing partnership between SHE and the FIFA nearly three decades is running out. Late last year, Electronic Arts confirmed it was considering renaming its FIFA franchise to “EA Sports FCWhile trying, at the same time, to end his licensing agreement with the football organization. Now, it would appear that this is bound to happen very soon. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.

FIFA: EA would be considering the name “EA Sports FC” and the current license could be taken over by other developers

On a recent episode of the Giant Bomb show GrubbSnax, the reporter Jeff Grubb stated that SHE will soon be renaming its franchise FIFA. With their licensing agreement expiring with this year’s game, Grubb says Electronic Arts will change the name of the series from FIFA a EA Sports FC (“FC” stands for “Football Club”, in case you are wondering). The FIFA series, on the other hand, will go ahead with its own brand, although it remains to be seen if and who will be the new developers to continue the successful saga.

Reports from October last year suggested that not only FIFA had asked EA 2.5 billion dollars every four years to extend its deal, but it was also looking to place restrictions on in-game monetization. More recently, EA said their FIFA license actually precluded the company from expanding the franchise in any way they wanted.

How exactly would this affect EA Sport’s annual football simulation series? In fact, the only thing they would lose is the license itself of the FIFA World Cup: The license for every other international team, club, player and stadium that is already in FIFA games will remain largely unaffected. Staying on the FIFA theme, a few days ago we told you about the current TOTW and the Retro Kits.
