Mozilla Firefox version 110 will allow Linux users to import their data from Opera and Vivaldi, but under some conditions
Con Firefox 109 which has already reached the repositories of the various distributions GNU/Linuxthe free software community born in 1998 is already working on the new one version 110 which will allow import your data from multiple browsers, such as Opera e Vivaldi. All of this, however, will only be feasible if certain characteristics are respected. Let’s take a closer look at new features coming soon with the new version it is currently available in beta on all platforms, including Linux ones.
The most interesting feature of this new release is certainly the one that allows the open source Web browser to detect and allow you to import data such as bookmarks, cookies, history and passwords from other browsers such as Opera, Opera GX and Vivaldi. Until today, in fact, Firefox it only allowed importing data from Chrome and Chromium browsers.
To import data from another browser, on Linux systems, you will have to go to the main menu and access the section Bookmarks. Here, click on Manage bookmarks at the end of the list and select Import and backup, then Import data from another browser. Although therefore it is not a difficult procedure, the troubles will certainly not be lacking. To import data you will need to have Opera or Vivaldi installed on your GNU/Linux system using native packages for distribution (RPM o DEB).
In fact, it seems that version 110 is unable to detect installations of these browsers from sandboxed installations such as Flatpak o AppImage. This new release also allows you to make image dragging more reliable on open tabs or other instances of Firefox. Moreover adds support for CSS named pagesallowing web pages to do per-page layout and page breaks declaratively when printed.
