F1, in 2025 we could see a change to the regulations

F1 is considering changing the race scoring system for drivers with a view to 2025

At the top of F1, the possibility of modifying scores assigned during the race already with a view to 2025. This is the latest news coming from F1 Commission which aims to have more duels and fights on the track especially in the rear positions. In fact, the new scoring model will not affect the top positions. Discussions on this proposal will intensify as the teams, the FIA and the F1 Commission will meet in the usual meetings that will take place in Geneva.

The idea is to extend the awarding of points to the first 12 drivers in the race instead of the first 10, as has happened since 2010. It would be a small but significant revolution for the category, also to give voice to those teams that are unlikely to manage to collect at least one point during the race. In fact, after these first 5 seasonal races only 7 out of 10 teams they brought home at least one point. The three teams with still zero entries in the scores are Kick Clean, Williams e Alpine.

As mentioned, the new regulation will not affect the first positions in the race, but will only undergo a slight modification from 8th place onwards. Currently, whoever places eighth in the race takes home 4 pointswith the new regulation would bring 5 Instead. The new scoring system will assign the points from the eighth to the twelfth place 4,3,2,1 points plus the additional fastest lap point which by doing so could go to the twelfth driver on track. This would represent a great chance for the teams that usually sail at the back of the grid and would therefore allow them to have even more incentive to do well during the World Championship.
