Google announced this morning that American users can now access searches using artificial intelligence (AI). The system in question is called Google Search Generative Experience (SGE), whose waitlist has been officially opened. This means that although it is open to all American users, a waiting list must be respected.
Google SGE was first unveiled at Google I/O 2023 in early May, and is about integrating generative AI into the traditional search interface.
If you have tried Bing Chat, the AI chatbot from Microsoft, you will find some similarities, but also some differences. At the moment we don’t have access to Google SGE from Italy, but Endgadget which has tried and reviewed the technology comes to our rescue, providing us with some useful information. So here it is the main differences between Bing’s AI search and Google’s:

In addition to Google SGE, Google is making other tools from the Search Labs division available, including Code Tips and Add to Sheets (also available only to US users). Code Tips “uses the power of large language models to provide suggestions to write code faster and smarter”. It allows future developers to ask how-to questions about programming languages (C, C++, Go, Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Python, and TypeScript), tools (Docker, Git, shell), and algorithms.
Add to Sheets, on the other hand, allows you to transfer search results directly into the Google Sheets spreadsheet application.
