Apple updated its list of vintage and obsolete products today, adding the iPhone 6 Plus as well. More than five years have passed since the device was last released.
iPhone 6 Plus was first released in September 2014 together with the basic model. Production was discontinued in September 2016, following the launch of iPhone 7. The base model, on the other hand, is not yet in the vintage list as it has been available on the market for longer (until September 2018).
A piece of Apple history, since the sixth generation of the iPhone was the first to support Apple Pay and come in multiple sizes at the time of purchase. The list of vintage products includes devices that Apple withdrew from the market at least five years ago. In fact, the brand provides assistance and spare parts for vintage devices for a maximum of 7 years (as required by law on the matter), but repairs are subject to the availability of parts. Apple has permanently stopped supporting iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with software updates since 2019, with the launch of iOS 13.
