Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl: remake available today

End of the wait: the doors to Sinnoh are (again) open and the pair of Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes is available

After a long and exhausting wait, as well as the attempt by the leakers to get the trade press in trouble for the umpteenth time, it is finally available one of the most anticipated remakes of the year: let’s talk about Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl. Just as the original pair (dating from 2006 in Japan and 2007 in the West) represented the debut of the dual screen, the new Sinnoh marks one of the first titles to return to the classic format. With a graphic design somewhere between the chibi style of the Wii-era spinoffs and the dynamic focus of Octopath Traveler, today we will be able to see the main series in a new light.

Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl: finally the new Sinnoh is available!

In fact, remember that the pair of games available from today is not the direct work of Game Freak: another development team was in fact dealing with Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl. As well as ILCA is completely unrelated to the pocket monsters, indeed. Pokémon HOME, the service to manage creatures on Switch (compatibility with games) and smartphones (online exchanges), is also their work. It may be for this reason that, demonstrating reverential respect for the original material, the developers have decided to avoid the usual redesign work applied to the characters in the event of a remake.

Despite the fidelity, however, the two games do not deny the due improvements of the case. For example, the underground of the original games has given way to the Great Dungeons. In these caves, we will be able to find species of Pokémon absent in the wildlife seen in 2007. Similarly, our fellow adventurers will be able to follow us even without staying in their Poké Ball, while previously this option was reserved only for Concordia Park. Lastly and most importantly, the use of Hidden Machines between team moves is no longer mandatory. Instead, wild Pokémon nearby will help us when we need it. We’ll let you know our views on it as soon as possible.

Now it’s up to you to have your say: will you make these two remakes yours?
