Randhir Thakur lascia la divisione Intel Foundry Services!

Bad news for Intel, which loses its senior vice president Randhir Thakur, from the competitor division of TSMC

Randhir Thakur leaves the blue team, bad news for the Santa Clara giant, a choice that obviously had been in the air for some time we imagine and which certainly had the right time for discussion at the top management.

However, the “problem” of the matter remains, Thakur has always been a great leader within Intel, and has always been able to support the various internal divisions to ensure effective and constant development. It just wasn’t senior vice presidents but also president of the Intel Foundry Services division more commonly known as IFSprecisely the division responsible for the design and innovation programs to compete against the largest manufacturers to date, and to contend for the semiconductor market especially against TSMC.

Randhir Thakur lascia la divisione Intel Foundry Services!

We heard the news from thereregister’s colleagues, who reported the matter officially, and we learn that the division that Randhir Thakur left, not only did it aim to develop new projects to dominate the sector at the expense of the number one competitor TSMC, but also against Samsung. The news was later reported by Pat Gelsinger in an email sent to employees.

Apparently, Thakur has embarked on a path to pursue different opportunities, but will remain at least until 2023 to lead the group remotely, also and only to accompany and “make way” for the future new leader of the division. Intel states the following about the incident, in the letter sent to employees;

We are grateful to Randhir for the tremendous progress IFS has made and for laying the foundation for Intel to become a world-class foundry. We wish him all the best in his new ventures

Gelsinger meanwhile obviously speaks well of Randhir Thakur, stating that he has been a key member of the team, who has enabled the management team with his leadership to better compete with partners, since 2017, and that his contribution has certainly been invaluable in order to innovate in the IFS sector. Which we remember is the key division to compete in today’s market. In fact, Gelsinger always stated;

Since the second quarter, IFS has expanded relationships to seven of the top 10 foundry customers, along with continued pipeline growth to include 35 customer test chips,” said Gelsinger. “This is a huge progress in just 20 months!

This division that has turnover well 576 million dollars. However, Intel’s goals certainly do not stop, which in the Q1 2023has set itself the goal of concluding and acquiringTower Semiconductor.
