The X21 is not equipped with a RAID control chip, which allows end users to configure it according to system requirements. Also, the card is not equipped with fans, so users need to have support for cooling fans. Generally, this solution is good for servers with many cooling fans. In a workstation, additional fans may be required.

Test

Sabrent is always at the cutting edge of technology. In a single board configuration, the X21 can deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 30.5GBps and 28.5GBps, respectively. Random performance on the AIC consists of 7.5 million read IOPS and 6.2 million write IOPS. X21 has been equipped with as many as 21 Rocket 4 Plus 8TB SSDs to reach the maximum capacity of 168TB Gen 4 storage space on a single card. The AIC uses a single slot PCIe x16 slot which leaves room for other cards or even another X21, which can be combined with the first card. Two 6-pin power connectors are required to power the X21. The X21 uses 4 screws to hold the AIC together, which connect through two rear panel connections. It’s pretty easy to disassemble and install as many SSD drives as you need. Internal tests are currently being carried out. Then it will be sent for an independent review.
