Samsung will increase the production of OLED panels

Samsung Display is one of the leading manufacturers of hi-tech components for smartphones, tablets, laptops and TVs. It is not surprising, therefore, to know that the company intends to significantly increase the production of OLED panels. More specifically, the production of Q-LED and OLED panels for information technology will be increased in South Korea. This translates into a gradual reduction in the production of LCDs for televisions. In the L7-2 plant, for example, the equipment for the production of LCD TV panels has been replaced by lines for the production of sixth generation OLEDs with dimensions up to 1500 × 1850 mm, intended for small and medium-sized electronics. Let’s try to understand, then, what are the future plans of the company.

OLED panels: Samsung focuses on increasing production

In South Korea, Samsung is reshaping the production of displays, dismantling the equipment used for the production chain of LCD televisions. Selling them to the Chinese to the Chinese BOE Technology or China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT). And replacing them with those for the production of OLED and Q-LED panels. The L8-1 plant, for example, will be able to supply up to 30,000 panels per month. Furthermore, beyond the TVs, it is worth noting that Samsung has successfully implemented i proprietary flexible displays in the foldable smartphone series Galaxy Z Fold e Z Flip.

And as if that weren’t enough, the company recently launched a site dedicated solely to developments related to OLED panels. Here, in addition to useful information on displays, you can find a series of schematic images of the new types of devices that Samsung may release in the near future. In May, for example, the South Korean tech giant registered the marchio Z Rollable, which could mean that he soon plans to launch a device with a display arrotolabile. Furthermore, the site also mentions a foldable portable display, which perhaps Samsung could use in a new notebook, who knows. In short, the options are many. And the company seems to want to exploit them all.
